VDS rDNS Setup and One-Click Application Installation
FiberVM combines network identity management with an application marketplace. These tools reduce repetitive setup work while keeping the customer in control of the server.
What is rDNS?
Reverse DNS maps an IP address to a hostname through a PTR record. It is commonly required for mail server identity and is managed by the organization that owns the IP range. The hostname should also resolve back to the same IP through an A or AAAA record.
Choose the correct hostname
Use a fully qualified hostname such as mail.example.com. Create its forward DNS record first, then save the matching PTR value in FiberVM. DNS caches may delay the visible result.
One-click applications
The application marketplace can deploy supported stacks such as LAMP, LEMP, WordPress and Docker. Review the supported operating system and existing server state before installation. Automated setup saves time, but updates, backups and application security remain the server administrator's responsibility.
After installation
- Change generated credentials.
- Restrict unnecessary ports.
- Enable HTTPS where applicable.
- Install security updates.
- Create an external backup.
