The quality of a proxy service is not measured only by whether the connection opens. Latency, route stability, whether the IP is dedicated or shared, protocol support, traffic terms and security policy together determine the experience. So instead of trusting a single speed test in the search for the "fastest proxy", you should set criteria that fit your needs.
What does proxy speed depend on?
The distance between the client and the proxy, the route between the proxy and the target service, and the server's concurrent load affect total response time. For small web requests latency matters more, while for large files bandwidth does. Tests should be run from the network you will use and at different times.
Dedicated vs shared IP
A dedicated proxy IP can be assigned to a specific customer, while a shared IP can be used by several users. Shared use can lower cost, but other users' traffic behaviour can affect performance or the IP's reputation. For work where session continuity matters, find out the IP allocation model in advance.
Protocol and application compatibility
HTTP/HTTPS or SOCKS support should be chosen according to the software you will use. Whether authentication is by username/password or by allowed IP affects operations. In environments with several devices or dynamic IPs, check that the access method is suitable.
Traffic limits and concurrent connections
Remember that "unlimited" is not independent of fair use, port speed and connection limits. If you will transfer a lot of data, the monthly quota, port capacity and concurrent connection policy should be read carefully.
Security and responsible use
A proxy is not a tool that removes all security problems. Sensitive information may not be protected in traffic that does not use HTTPS. Untrusted client software and misconfigured applications can lead to data leaks. The service terms, the rules of the target platforms and the applicable legislation must be followed.
Pre-purchase checklist
- Measure latency against the target system and from your own network.
- Ask whether the IP is dedicated or shared.
- Confirm the protocol and authentication method you need.
- Read the traffic, port and concurrent connection terms.
- Find out the scope of refunds, replacement and technical support.
You can review the current options on the buy fast proxy page. The most suitable plan is not simply the one with the highest bandwidth, but the one whose location, IP model and terms of use match your needs.
