FiberVM includes recovery and lifecycle tools that simplify common Cloud VDS operations. Snapshots, reinstallation and password management serve different purposes and should be used with a clear recovery plan.
Create a snapshot before risky changes
A snapshot records the virtual machine state at a specific point. It is useful before major package upgrades, configuration changes or application deployments. A snapshot is not a replacement for an independent backup because it remains tied to the same platform.
Reinstall the operating system
Reinstallation rebuilds the server from a selected operating system template. This action permanently removes existing data. Download required files, export databases and verify backups before starting.
Reset the server password
The password tool can set a new credential or generate one automatically. Use a unique password, store it in a password manager and prefer SSH keys for Linux administration when possible.
Recommended order
- Back up application files and databases.
- Create a snapshot when appropriate.
- Apply the planned change.
- Test services and external access.
- Remove obsolete recovery points after validation.
