Before deploying an application on a new Cloud VDS, complete the basic security and operating system checks.

## Verify and update

```

## Create an administrator

Create a sudo-enabled user and test a second SSH session before closing root access.

## Configure the firewall

Allow SSH first, then open only required application ports such as 80 and 443.

## Backups and monitoring

Monitor CPU, memory, disk and services. Use snapshots before risky changes and maintain independent file and database backups.
